Bashar Abouljoud

Bashar Abouljoud operates under the belief that the human hand gives things soul. Without their traces, objects are deprived of the opportunity to carry with them a story to tell. It was this ethos that encouraged him to build “joud,” a label assuming the guise of a library to house and immortalize his collections, each carrying with them a narrative derived from his roots as a hand tailor with an affinity for storytelling.

Cutting his teeth as a bespoke tailor’s apprentice, then going on to complete his BFA in Fashion Design, Abouljoud allows his attentiveness to workmanship to unapologetically guide his mission as a designer and artisan. Albeit the commitment to preserving the art of clothesmaking in the fashion industry, or the establishment of a beacon for intentional, narrative-based design, Abouljoud continues to build the library of his collections, story by story, with relentless avidity and fervor.
