WHO WE ARE
Fashion Trust U.S. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to recognizing and supporting the next generation of U.S.-based emerging fashion designers. Launched in 2022 with its first Award Gala in 2023, this initiative provides financial support and mentorship to promising designers across the U.S.
Founded by Tania Fares, this vision began in 2011 with the launch of the British Fashion Council’s Fashion Trust in the U.K., which she led for a decade. She now serves as co-chair of the British Fashion Council (BFC) Foundation.
Fashion Trust U.S. aims to empower U.S.-based emerging brands by offering financial grants and a comprehensive mentorship program designed to help transform them into thriving global companies. Winners receive financial awards alongside a one-year intensive mentorship covering budgeting, strategy, digital marketing, social media optimization, merchandising, and overall business scaling and growth.
The initiative is guided by an esteemed leadership team including Tania Fares, Carlos Nazario, Laura Brown, Karla Welch, Maha Dakhil, and Cameron Silver.
U.S.-based designers in the categories of Ready-to-Wear, Jewelry, Accessories, and recent fashion school school graduates are invited to apply during the open application period. Eligible designers are required to be in business between two to seven years.
Each category selects four finalists, for a total of 16 finalists annually. From these, five awardees receive a combined $500,000 in grants, distributed based on their business strategies. Personalized mentorship accompanies these awards, focusing on budgeting, strategy, digital marketing, merchandising, and overall business growth.
Fashion Trust U.S. places a strong emphasis on sustainability. One additional finalist who demonstrates exemplary sustainable practices will be recognized and rewarded, encouraging environmentally responsible and accessible fashion.
Winners and grant recipients are announced each April at the prestigious annual Fashion Trust U.S. Awards Gala, following a thorough review by our board.
