Karla Dipuglia
Karla Dipuglia is a Dominican designer whose work is rooted in exploring identity and reimagining the Caribbean through craftsmanship. Raised in the Dominican Republic, creativity shaped her everyday life, leading her from childhood art competitions to studying fashion on a full scholarship at Parsons School of Design in New York. Living away from home prompted her to question how Caribbean identity is represented and who has the authority to define it.
These questions led to the creation of Ká Dipuglia, a brand through which she reinterprets Caribbean heritage using textile sculpture, bold patternwork, and collaborations with artisans who carry forward regional craft traditions. Her practice is research-driven and material-led, transforming cultural memory into wearable forms.
Her work has been recognized with the Best Sustainable Designer Award in the Dominican Republic and has been featured at Caravana Americana in Mexico City and the Bienal Iberoamericana de Diseño in Madrid. Today, Ká Dipuglia continues to evolve as a bridge between heritage and innovation, using fashion as a medium for storytelling, preservation, and transformation.
