Founder

Monica Magdas Miller is the founder and CEO of Iconoclast Studio Inc and the Creative Director of SANTICLER. Born and raised in Romania, Monica learned the centuries-old techniques of hand knitting, embroidery and weaving from her mother and grandmother. The love of artisan textiles and the desire to preserve heritage and cultural traditions inspired her to pursue a career in fashion and eventually, to launch the sustainable collection SANTICLER.

Before establishing her own line of clothing, Monica spent 15 years building a successful career as an apparel industry executive and creative director. She graduated from the Academy of Art University with a BA in fashion and an elective in knitwear design. Living in Los Angeles, she has worked for various high-profile brands, most recently as a Senior Design Director at BCBG Max Azria, followed by a position as Creative Director and Vice President of CAA/Global Brands.

One of the early advocates of slow fashion and sustainability, Monica decided to marry her creative intuition with more academic pursuits and in the spring of 2020, she received her MBA with a focus on sustainability from Yale’s School of Management. It is during her time at Yale that she launched SANTICLER and also started Iconoclast Studio: a design, sourcing, manufacturing and distribution consultancy that seeks to provide an effortless solution to fashion brands looking to manufacture sustainably in Europe.
