Carlos Nazario
Carlos Nazario is a fashion editor, stylist, and creative consultant based in New York City. He is currently the Global Fashion Director of i-D Magazine and contributing editor at American Vogue. Named by the CFDA as one of the stylists shaping the future of fashion and profiled by New York Magazine with the description “the fashion industry can’t seem to get enough of Carlos Nazario,” he is a driving force with a pioneering vision
Nazario has styled a range of magazine covers such as American Vogue, Italian Vogue, i-D, T: The New York Times Style Magazine, M Le Monde, W Magazine, and L’uomo Vogue.
He has worked with talent such as Rihanna, Lizzo, Solange, Zoë Kravitz, Bella Hadid, Naomi Campbell, Frank Ocean, Dev Hynes, Tyler, and The Creator, among many others. However, Nazario’s favorite accomplishment is close to the heart and home: For one of Vogue Italia’s “100 Covers” for the magazine’s September 2020 issue, he styled his grandmother, Efna, in Prada.
He has collaborated with esteemed photographers such as Alasdair McLellan, Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, Mario Sorrenti, Collier Schorr, and Glen Luchford, as well as new-wave talents such as Tyler Mitchell, Ethan James Green, and Oliver Hadlee Pearch.
His clients have included Lanvin, Burberry, Ambush, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Zara, Proenza Schouler, Nike, and Hood by Air where he is currently the fashion director.
Nazario’s diverse experiences have given him a layered understanding of design, niche markets, and a grasp of culture, and has made him one of the most refreshing voices in fashion. His career is also marked by achieving milestones: Nazario was the first Black stylist to style a cover for American Vogue in the magazine’s 100-plus-year history.
