Jasmin Larian Hekmat
Jasmin Larian Hekmat’s creative journey began in childhood, shaped by her sculptor‑and‑fashion‑designer mother and her father—the visionary behind MGA’s Bratz brand. Surrounded by inspiring textures and fabrics, she honed her passion for design by creating clothing and concepts for dolls. This early immersion led her to study at Otis College in Los Angeles and New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), where internships with Narciso Rodriguez and Jason Wu further refined her skills. While at FIT, she began hand‑making flower crowns for friends—pieces born from her philosophy of designing what she herself wanted to wear—and quickly gained popularity as conversation‑starting accessories.
In 2012, Jasmin launched Cult Gaia, initially offering flower crowns and wired turbans crafted from vintage fabrics. The brand’s breakout came in 2013 with the Ark Bag—a semi‑circle bamboo purse that blurred the line between art object and accessory. Four years later, ready-to-wear became a main focus for the brand. Larian Hekmat’s first-ever line of clothes was one that captured her own essence: a woman and soon-to-be mother who wholeheartedly embraced the feminine. The collections continue to evolve season to season, and evoke new iterations of the Cult Gaia woman.
